Tips for Working From Home

Working from home allows you more flexibility and freedom, but it also comes with some challenges. Your home likely has more distractions than a typical office, so you may find that you’re having a hard time staying motivated and getting your work done. Here are a few things you can do to make working from home a little more manageable.

Make Space

While working on your couch may seem like a good idea, you may find yourself getting distracted a lot or even dozing off at times. Instead, consider creating a home office. Look online for the best place to buy office furniture in your area, and get the necessities, such as a desk and chair. Set up your office in an area of your house that is quiet and away from distractions.

Have a Schedule

You may have set hours from your boss, but if not, you should consider choosing them for yourself. You’re more likely to procrastinate if you don’t have a set schedule. You’ll want to include a morning routine, factor in breaks and be sure to make time for lunch. Remember that it’s ok to take sick or personal days even when you’re working from home.

Socialize

Working from home can be isolating, so it’s important to remember to socialize. Collaborating with colleagues is an important part of most jobs, and although you can’t be together face to face, you can still chat on the phone or have video meetings. You’ll, of course, still want to make sure you’re focusing on work during work hours, but you can always get together for virtual happy hour as well.

Sticking to these tips can help you to be more productive. You may even find that you end up getting your work done faster, which can allow you to have a better work-life balance.

Matching Outfits for the Fam Bam and the Pooch Too!

Who loves to have matching pjs for the whole family and even your adorable pets? I bet you do, too. I was browsing those cute prints from LazyOne family pajamas and could not help myself adding the items to the shopping cart. The loungewear is so pretty, right? They are in fashion since the quarantine took effect.

Our family has been home-bound since the government declared quarantine five months ago. My daughter is working from home and is comfortable wearing shirts and pajamas even in the daytime. On the other hand, my son is taking online learning classes twice a week and accepts art commissions during his free time. He, too, is comfortable wearing shirts and shorts sets while doing his stuff.

Pajamas are comfortable to wear because they are commonly made of cotton materials and do not feel icky when you sweat.

Checking on their website, LazyOne also carries cute and fun socks. My daughter loves a pair of printed socks. I would be happy to add two more for her and myself to the shopping cart.

I have got our dog, a cute bandana as well. Oreo would look good wearing one in his next photo.

We have not tried any of the products from LazyOne just yet, but the company touches on some good points, which I think are necessary before buying from them.

According to their website, the company only works with factories with sound environmental policies; they use recycled or recyclable paper for their hangers and hang tags. In addition, the company uses azo-free dyes when coloring or dyeing the fabrics.

It is good to note that pjs and socks are the best gift idea for the coming Christmas season. You do not need to go to the physical shop to purchase them. You can all order these items directly from their website. Besides family loungewear sets, they also have something for your house. So, check them out.

Weighing the need for desktops

My daughter is working from home for two years now.  It’s been her way of life before everyone talks about how they will go about their “new normal” amidst the pandemic.

Late last year, N and her Dad were planning to assemble desktop parts because she thinks she’ll be more productive to use desktop than a laptop.

N is a graphic designer and she finds desktops to be more reliable than the laptop she is currently using.

She said a video adapter can be installed with independent higher memory in desktop plus it can render graphic display faster. With these qualities in mind, N said, she can be more productive in her job.

My son might likely switch to desktop just like his sister.

The community college where K is currently enrolled at is offering distance learning to its old and new students.  And we are adapting to the new norm since the government (still) prohibits face-to-face learning.

The community college is offering desktop rental to students needing them to cope with the demand of the course requirement.  K is taking up multimedia arts and needs a reliable laptop or desktop with fast internet connection for his online classes.

The only thing we worry about is the inevitable increase in electric bill consumption once the purchase of new desktops happens.

We are looking for new and refurbished desktops at Rakuten. Hubby is weighing which is more practical to buy. We might consider buying online since they offer free shipping for every purchase made.
