Stress Can Boost Your Immune System

Anyone who hasn’t heard of the harmful effects of long-term stress on the boy has probably been living under a rock somewhere. We all know too well that worrying over the best motorcycle pads and seats for your bike or stressing about your marriage eventually takes its toll on your health, but short bursts of stress can surprisingly make your immune system stronger.

When under stress, the body releases the hormone cortisol in preparation for danger (also known as the “fight-or flight” response). What cortisol does is it gives a short-term boost to your immune system.

So the next time you feel your heart beat out of your chest before an important presentation at work, that’s alright. You may very well be fending off the cold virus with that momentary stress.

Be Stress-free

Many factors in our daily life contribute to our stress level. Stress can make or break your day. When we are stress-free, time seems so quick, we laugh often and we enjoy everything that we do and it shows in us. When we are stressed-out, all the negativity also shows in us and in all the things that we do.

And did you know that by being a member of a roadside assistance club, you are making yourself stress-free on the road? Whatever happens, just call the club and they will come to you wherever you are and whatever problem you may have. Isn’t that a great way to keep yourself healthy and sane?

How to manage the effects of stress

Are you still dealing with the symptoms of burnout? Now, here’s a list of things that you can do to manage (your) stress and its effects better.

1. Recognize the minor irritants or hassles that upset you.

2. Accept what you cannot change and work on things that you have good control of.

3. Learn the Correct Breathing Techniques.

4. Do simple stretching activities.

5. Learn simple mental relaxation techniques.

6. Recognize your physical reactions, tensions and body aches.

7. Have a good massage of the neck, shoulder and back muscles.

8. Hone your muscles, exercise 25-30 minutes at least 3 x a week.

9. Maintain a healthy Life Style:

–     reduce alcohol intake

–     have adequate sleep

–     have proper nutrition

–     enough rest and relaxation

10. Find meaning in what you do

11. Attend Stress Management Trainings/Workshops

12. Smile (it takes 15 muscles to smile and 48 muscles to frown).
