You’ve just turned the TV off, but that “But wait, there’s more!” phrase keeps ringing in your head. Infomercials on home exercise equipment are a dime a dozen, so it’s pretty easy to be swayed by that catchy, manly voice on air. If you’re looking to buy one for yourself, first think about these things:

Identify your fitness goals. Do you want to trim certain areas of your body, or are you looking for a good cardio workout machine? Search among the various exercise equipment to see which one will help you best achieve your goals.

Will you enjoy using the exercise equipment? Is it safe to use alone?

Does the equipment look sturdy enough to last? It should take more than diamond blades to cut through it.

What storage options does the equipment have? Is there enough room in your place to stash it away when not in use?

At the end of the day, it will all boil down to whether or not you will actually use that piece of equipment. Whether it’s a treadmill or a stationary bike, it will be utterly useless if you don’t use it. Once you get results, then you’ll be able to determine the value of what you bought.

I’m happy about this recent government initiative to provide free cervical cancer screening for women in Metro Manila. The health project is part of the Universal Health Care program of President Benigno Aquino.

Women ages 30 to 45 are the targeted recipient. I still belong to the age group so I might as well grab the opportunity to undergo free screening. I can still re-schedule some readings on internet video conferencing to visit one of the selected government hospitals on Wednesday. If you are living in Metro Manila, you can avail yourself of the health service.

Free screenings for women in Metro Manila will be available at the following hospitals every Wednesday: Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center on Avenida Rizal, Sta. Cruz, Manila; Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital on Oroquieta St., Sta. Cruz, Manila; East Avenue Medical Center in Diliman, Quezon City; Tondo Medical Center in Manila;

Quirino Memorial Medical Center on Katipunan Avenue Extension in Project 4, Quezon City; Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City; Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City; Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center in Las Piñas City; Valenzuela General Hospital in Valenzuela City;

San Lorenzo Ruiz Memorial Hospital in Malabon City; National Children’s Hospital on E. Rodriguez Sr. Blvd. in New Manila, Quezon City; and Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City.

The atmosphere in your own home today depends on how different personalities and way of thinking of each one connects to one another. You can say it’s difficult to achieve a peaceful household when you have to deal with teen kids who have a mind of their own. No amount of shouting or heated argument can resolve conflicts between siblings or kids to their parents. As a mom whose busy reading firminite reviews from time to time can only do so much to keep the bickering kids quiet. One has to stay in the room to do her stuff and the other one stay in the sala to warch TV or play computer games. If you’re a mom like me, how do you deal with conflicts between siblings?

There are a couple of things individuals can do to help family members who have been hospitalized. A little consideration and a lot of caring allows virtually anyone to be able to do either of these things.

Visit

This idea is simple enough, and simply requires people to make a point to visit someone who is hospitalized. These visits help to make people comfortable in what can otherwise be uncomfortable surroundings that may also be attended by people who have studied at www.medical-assistant.net. It’s also thoughtful to coordinate visits with other family members in order to ensure that the hospitalized loved one always has someone visiting with them.

Bring Gifts

It’s a great idea to bring gifts to people who are hospitalized, particularly those who will be hospitalized for a significant amount of time. Gifts do not have to be lavish, but should ideally be things that the hospitalized person both likes and can use, such as toiletries with a personal touch or books. Part of the effect of giving these things to the hospitalized person is to present them with things of utilitarian value, while another part is to surprise them and break up the monotony of the hospital’s routine. People who work in hospitals have often attended surgical tech schools for their studies.

We went to the doctor for our follow-up checkup the other day and she recommended another set of blood test for my son to determine the glucose and ionized calcium in his blood. She wanted to make sure that my son is not a candidate for endocrine disorders such as diabetes.

Hubby took our son to the hospital’s lab section the following day for his blood test, the result of which came out a few hours later.

I texted the pediatrician the results of the blood test, and thankfully, she said that it is within the normal level just like the result of the first blood exam taken last week.

The pedia said that my son’s food intake may not be sufficient to support his normal growth. He is 12 and stands 5″7, but his food intake is suitable for a young child’s diet.

The medicines that he took for one week had helped him recover from his occasional cough. His vitamins, on the other hand, are responsible for his weight improvement. I guess he gained a pound; he is no longer pale and rarely has dizzy spells.

To speed up his recovery, the pedia advised him to go to bed early, drink milk twice a day and eat protein-rich food. Drinking milk is fine with the kid, but hitting the sack by 9 p.m., well, we’re still working on that department as he has trouble falling asleep at night.

If I can manage to bring my son to a health spa, I will have him undergo massage montréal specifically massotherapy. Massotherapy is a medical or therapeutic treatment by massage. This has been proven effective by experts for the quick recovery from an illness or injury as it helps improve the functions of the muscles, blood, nerve and bones.

I took my son to his pediatrician yesterday to check on not-so pretty signs of a looming health problem. He just recovered from cough. But we noticed some changes in him like his skin becomes pale. He has dark circles under his eyes. Worse, he seems to be losing weight. (Although he got several inches taller.)

I really planned on having my son checked by his pedia, but I just didn’t feel the urgency to make an appointment until he passed out yesterday afternoon. Good thing his dad was beside him to lift him up and let him sat on the sofa. We also let him drink water so he can breathe easily or clear his air passage.

I texted our pedia and told her what happened. She instructed us to go to her clinic so she could check him immediately.

The doctor said something about my son’s right lung (I forgot the term) and she said his cough may have been left untreated so it developed to pneumonia without our knowledge. She prescribed two types of meds for his lungs to be taken every eight hours, for one week. The doctor also gave him two types of vitamins to make him well. She also gave us a referral for blood test at the hospital where she serves as a consultant.

We got the blood test result within 30 minutes. We went home and called up the pedia to read to her the result. Fortunately, my son’s blood test showed normal for any infection. She told me to continue to administer the medicine and see her next week for a follow up check up.

I may be relieved of any worries about my son’s blood test result, but until he gets better, that will be the only time that I can breathe a sigh of relief.
